Media Arts Council in the US to host ‘Parizad’

Iran’s short film ‘Parizad’ is to compete at the Media Arts Council fest in the US.

Iranian short film ‘Parizad’ has been selected to compete at the 15th edition of the Media Arts Council festival (MAC) in the US.

Directed and produced by Mehdi Imani Shahmiri, ‘Parizad’ narrates the story of an old woman named aunt Keshvar who lives alone in a village in the north of Iran.

Aunt Keshvar is still weaving a traditional textile called Golich that is almost forgotten.

The lonely woman in Shahmirzad village retells stories about the ancient myths and legends of her country.

Golich is a type of hand-woven floor covering- that is only made in Chashm. The mothers and grandmothers of the village tell some beautiful tales and stories about the art.

‘Parizad’ has previously participated in several international festivals including the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival (BSDFF) in the US, the Festival of Nations, an international short film festival in Austria, and The Mammoth Lakes Film Festival (MLFF) in the US.

The MAC aims to support local artists and provide professional artists with an opportunity to showcase or perform their works.

The 2022 edition of the event is scheduled for March 31- April 2.
